Quality Ratings and Assessments
Every child is valued and deserves the opportunity to thrive. Research shows that high-quality early care and educational experiences are central to a child’s future success in school and life. Ninety percent of brain development occurs before a child’s fifth birthday, so we can’t wait until Kindergarten to provide high-quality learning and developmental experiences. Over half of the children under six in Colorado are in families where all available caregivers are in the workforce.
The quality of the environments where they receive care-- including child care centers, family child care homes and preschools -- is important and should provide a solid foundation on which children will succeed.
To help child care providers across all settings meet quality goals, Qualistar Colorado offers an array of assessment tools. Each assessment is designed to meet research based quality standards and provide a customized roadmap for quality improvement. In addition, Qualistar Colorado informs child care providers, policy makers and Colorado families on the why quality matters and what quality looks like.
