FREE TRAINING FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS!

What is I am Moving, I am Learning?

I am Moving, I am Learning (IMIL) is a proactive approach for addressing childhood obesity in young children. Please join us for this interactive and engaging workshop to learn about:
  • Promising practices and developmentally appropriate physical activity guidelines for preschool age children.
  • Current research related to obesity prevention and recommend strategies to improve the quality of physical activity for young children.
  • How to increase the quantity of time spent in moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) during the daily routine to meet national guidelines for physical activity.
  • How to improve the quality of structured movement experiences intentionally facilitated by teachers and adults.

This training is free of cost. Dinner will be provided. Each participant will receive activity binders and materials to begin implementing content right away!

This training will help programs obtain one point in the Child Health Promotion category of Colorado Shines.
 
Earn three professional development hours in Health, Safety and Nutrition, and Teaching Practice.

Upcoming Wellness Champion Training

WHO CAN BE A WELLNESS CHAMPION? Program directors, staff, teachers, health consultants, public health staff, coaches, and more. Anyone who wants to share the learning experiences from this nationally recognized proactive approach to addressing childhood obesity in early care and education settings.  It is recommended, but not required that participants have attended an “I am Moving, I am Learning” training.
 
TRAINING FEE: Please join us for this FREE 2 hour training if you're interested in championing wellness in early childhood programs in your area!
 
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS TRAINING: We will review best practices, brainstorm ideas, develop an action plan for promoting teacher-led structured physical activities and staff wellness.
 
WELLNESS CHAMPIONS WILL:
  • Distribute materials and supplies for implementing physical activity
  • Share new healthful ideas/activities for staff and children>Promote the use of structured physical activities facilitated by site staffthrough lesson plans and/or daily schedules
  • Mobilize and energize program staff to be more focused on health and well-being
  • Be a positive, healthy role model for children and program staff>Serve as a change agent in creating a culture of wellness

This training will provide you with strategies to become an effective “champion” for implementing physical activity and workplace wellness activities in your program.
