Trainer and Training Approval System
The Trainer and Training Approval System serves as a quality assurance process for early childhood trainers and trainees in Colorado. Qualistar Early Learning and the Smart Start Colorado Office of Professional Development (SSCOPD) believe that consistent standards for trainers promote high quality training and guide early childhood professionals in choosing training opportunities.
Trainer Approval
The Trainer Approval process gives trainers the opportunity to show they have experience and formal education in early childhood, as well as knowledge of adult learning principles and sound training design.
Trainer Approval is largely voluntary. It is only required of trainers who are funded through Qualistar via the Qualistar CCR&R Network. All other early childhood trainers are invited to apply for approval if they wish to show they meet the standards set by Qualistar and SSCOPD.

Training Approval
Training approval is also a voluntary process. Only trainings that are funded by Qualistar must be pre-approved. All other early childhood trainers are invited to submit their trainings for approval if they wish to show their trainings meet the standards set by Qualistar and SSCOPD.
This approval process assures that trainings are aligned with the Qualistar Rating System and with the Colorado Core Knowledge and Standards, which includes the knowledge and competencies all early childhood professionals should have. It also helps to verify that the training content is appropriate for the target audience and looks at the knowledge base and experience of the trainer.
