Colorado Child Care Health Consultation

All licensed child care centers are required to work with a Child Care Health Consultant. The CCHC works collaboratively with the program and provides many resources to assist the program in meeting or exceeding basic health and safety standards for children in group care.

The CCHC provides the legally required transfer of authority (delegation) so trained child care center staff can administer medication and implement the necessary special health care procedures for children in the program. In Colorado, a CCHC is either a currently Colorado licensed registered nurse with knowledge and experience in maternal and child health, a pediatric nurse practitioner or a family nurse practitioner, or a pediatrician.

Qualistar publishes Competencies for Child Care Health Consultants to help CCHCs improve their consulting skills and to help child care centers work with their health consultants more effectively. Qualistar also hosts a ListServ for CCHCs where up-to-date and relevant information for CCHCs is shared. Join the Listserv!
